Just chatted with the CEO of GoPro, Nick Woodman (net worth - 1.3 billion). I asked him if he could connect us with GoPros music manager so we can get Aaron (DJ KoKo) spinning at some of their huge events. Pretty cool experience. He wasnt exactly easy to approach and had a gatekeeper filtering out who got to speak with him. But once I spoke up and said that we appreciated his time, he overheard me and immediately softened up and gave us his full attention. At the end of the day, these guys are normal people. The difference is that theyre in high demand and they know that most people dont care about them, just what they can get from them. By showing appreciation and respect for their time and attention, big names are more likely to open up and converse, which gives you the opportunity to develop a relationship.
