Just finished the restoration project on this early 1900s Antique Hand Pump Wooden Washing Machine. Purchased this piece at Liz Webbers Auction, if you were there you would have seen the shape it was in. With a little light sanding to remove the wood fibers from years of water and the lye soap. Clean the metal parts to remove the mineral deposits and old grease, oiled the wood to revive the dried out wood and put some life back into it. Cha-Ching NO parts to replace (yes they are worn, I have no idea how may loads of laundry it takes to wear metal down, but a lot!) Wood was all in good shape and NO missing pieces, which is rear! It is a real treasure. Works great! As I continue to work with items from this century and last, I am amazed at the Thought, Work, Drive, inovation and ambition that our fore fathers had! It is amazing how talented, strong and filled with the need to make better. Our world now is a SOFT world, kudos to our ancestors!
