Justified through Faith (2) No one can justify himself before God and declare himself forgiven. No one can earn a place in the kingdom of God merely through works. Someone had to bear the punishment we all deserve. That someone was Jesus, who died in our place. He endured the punishment that we deserve. Blameless, He offered His life to God for our sake. He took our place before God and carried our sins. Through this perfect sacrifice, He fulfilled the requirements of Gods law. The scripture says: But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. Isaiah 53:5 Believing in what Jesus did on the cross is the same as accepting that He acted for you personally - and in this way your sins are also forgiven. You are justified and acceptable before God. You have received salvation and the gift of eternal life. When you give your life to God, you are born again in Christ Jesus. Your act of faith leads you to his new birth. He will never turn away anyone who comes to Him. You become a Christian through your faith. In response to that faith, the God of mercy bestows upon each believer all of lifes necessities - in this world and the next. Let us pray: Father, we bow ourselves before You. We believe You loved us for we choose to be Your children. You know our hearts and You reside in them. Make us the true masters of the truth of Your everlasting glory. Take us by the hand and enable us to remain in touch with Your kingdom of unconditional love and harmony. It is Your abundant mercy and love that we cherish with our lives. O, Lord, Jesus, we aspire to follow Your works of discipleship on both our flesh and spirit. May you be within us at all times. Amen.
