KISAN CREDIT CARD FOR POOR ADIVASI FARMERS AT BAHARE On 31st August, 2013 Bank of Maharashtra and Vasai Janhit organised a session for the farmers club on Kisan Credit Card. The resource persons were from Maha bank Thane: Mr. Vijay Bhosale, and Mrs. Savita Pawaskar, Manager from Bank of Maharashtra: Mr. Vipul Potalkar and assistant manager Mr. Amit Jahagirda. The animators for the session were Fr. Gilson, Mr. Kisan Dhangada, and Mr. Vasant Kuvra. Vasai Janhit Trust has formed various Farmers Club for the farmers. Various farmers’ club members from villages such as Haladpada, Shisine, Karanjvira, Amboli, Ghadne, Ambesari, and Nagzari were present for this programme. More than 100 farmers from different farmers club were present. Mrs. Savita Pawaskar explained about Kisan Credit Card, its uses etc and also answered the queries of some farmers. After the session the farmers who had brought all the necessary documents for the Kisan Credit Card where made to fill the forms. Total 70 forms were collected and the loan amounted to 20 lacs. The main advantage of Kisan Credit Card is that, since the interest rate is 7% the central government will give concession of 2% and state government will give 5% concession for only those who repay the amount on the specified time. In this way, the farmers will get loan on zero percent interest and will also get the benefit of ATM cards.
