Kari Rodowick-Sandrini asked· I have an 11month old female. She is incredibly submissive and piddles any time we try to correct her. Before we lost our oldest dog (an American Bulldog) last month we really couldnt even have her in the with him because anytime he got up she would pee and sometimes even release her anal glands. She goes everywhere with me, and the problem is worse at home than out in public. Ive had her since she was 8 weeks old and I assure you she has never been mistreated. We have really made an effort to modify our body language and use softer tones when correcting behaviors (like getting into the trash or counter surfing), but this peeing is getting a little obnoxious. She even piddles when my 3 year old son yells after she has stolen one of his toys! I was hoping that this would go away as she matured, but she is almost a year old now and she is still piddling all over my house! I know this is a common life long problem in toy breeds like chihuahuas. Does anyone else have a large or giant breed that never out grew the submissive urination phase? Any suggestions for building her confidence? She has excellent obedience skills and loves people. Any way to build on that?
