Knowing that I probably will not get to paddle to the Pentagon on - TopicsExpress

Knowing that I probably will not get to paddle to the Pentagon on Thursday, I decided to get out there today and have my own little moment to think about the precious lives that were lost on 9-11 and sit in silence as I remembered the events of that day. As I look at my boys today, the wonderful men that they are, I am so incredibly thankful that as I felt the ground shake and then saw that horrible black smoke I was able to collect them, one from pre-school and the other from kindergarten, and get them safely back to our home before the city went into the frenzy that it did. I didnt give them any explanation as to why I picked them up after just dropping them off except that I wanted to hang out and play with them instead. It would be 5 more hours before I knew that Tim was safe (his office was literally across the street from the White House) and not until the boys were tucked away, safe and sound, that I turned on a TV and saw the reality of what had happened. Thank you to all of the service men and women and their families who sacrifice so much to keep all of us safe. I still believe in the (maybe) naive and definitely idealistic dream of peace in this world and hope that soon that dream will be realized.
