LIVING IN THE WILL OF GOD LET ME SEEK HIS PLAN FOR MY LIFE The often quoted Jer 29:11 states that God has a good plan for our lives. Generally speaking, God’s plans for everyman are good. But God has a specific plan for my life. How can I discern it? I have to pray for the discernment of His plan for my life and seek Him diligently because when I seek Him with all my heart, He will reveal Himself to me. ‘Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me and I will answer you’ (Jer 29:12). You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart (Jer 29:13). Holy Spirit, our Paraclete, reveals God’s plan step by step as is written in Jn 16:13 which states, ‘when the Spirit comes,…He will speak of what He hears, and will tell you of things to me.’ However, I have to surrender my life completely to Him, for the manifestation of His Plan for my life and therefore, I have to renew my mind and heart so as to attune it to His Will. As Romans 12:12 states, Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God-what is good and is pleasing to Him and is perfect So, where can I find God’s plan for my life? In the Word because Jesus is the Living Word. I am sure that He hears me if I ask Him for anything that is according to His Will and what He has willed for me is good and perfect. ‘I, the LORD, will speak to them, and what I say will be done’ (Eze 12:25). It will all come true, every word of it when the right time comes. I am absolutely convinced that everything God has said is sure to come true. God does not break His promises (Tobit 14:4). When I want to live in the Will of God, I have to not merely surrender, but offer my life as a living sacrifice. Following the Will of God is entirely dependent on my faith, ‘to be sure of the things hoped for.’ So living in the will of God depends on faith which propels us to hope. Living in the Will of God demands complete Obedience and as the Bible tells us, God is pleased with obedience and to Him, obedience is better than sacrifice. ‘Not to go along the way to God is to go back’ St. Thomas Aquinas
