LONDON UNDERGROUND DELAYS THIS WEEKEND Check Before You Travel – Saturday and Sunday 5 and 6 October 2013 This bulletin includes information about planned London Underground improvement works this weekend, as well as those on the Emirates Air Line, London Overground, London Tramlink and Docklands Light Railway. It also includes information about works and events affecting London’s roads. Transport for London (TfL) continues to work hard to keep the majority of the transport network open and to provide information and alternative travel options. Londoners and visitors to the city are urged to “check before you travel”, particularly at weekends, and to allow extra journey time where necessary. TfL has a range of travel tools available to help passengers plan ahead, get travel information on the move and work out the best way home at tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews. The website also provides full bus replacement service information during works. So if travelling on Saturday 5, or Sunday 6 October please check before you travel to see if your journey is affected. Passengers can check before travelling using the following tools: · Sign up for emails on our website tfl.gov.uk/emailupdates · Go to tfl.gov.uk/check · Information on posters, leaflets and “service information” boards at Tube stations · The London Travel Info 24hrs telephone helpline: 0343 222 1234 · For live road updates follow @TfLTrafficNews or go to tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/road/ There are no planned track works this weekend on the Bakerloo, Circle, Piccadilly, Victoria, Waterloo & City lines, Docklands Light Railway, or London Tramlink. There are also no planned works on Emirates Air Line. London Underground New, more reliable lifts are being installed at Edgware Road (Bakerloo line) Tube station, as well as station repair and refurbishment work being carried out. As the only alternative means of access to the platforms is a staircase of 125 steps, for safety reasons the station is closed until the work is completed at the end of December. Customers can use nearby Edgware Road (Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) station or Marylebone station. The District line will be suspended on Sunday between Plaistow and Upminster on Sunday only, while Network Rail carries out track replacement on the adjacent c2c track and while we carry out line upgrade work at East Ham. The Hammersmith & City line will be suspended on Sunday between Moorgate and Barking while line upgrade work takes place at East Ham. The Jubilee line will be suspended between Willesden Green and Stanmore on Saturday owing to Metropolitan line track replacement work at Wembley Park. It will also be suspended between Waterloo and Stanmore on Sunday due to maintenance work, essential tunnelling and points replacement work at Baker Street. The Metropolitan line will be suspended all weekend between Aldgate and Northwood/Uxbridge and between Chalfont & Latimer and Chesham. This is owing to track replacement at Wembley Park, drainage improvement work at Harrow-on-the-Hill and line upgrade work. The Northern line will be suspended all weekend between Archway and High Barnet/Mill Hill East while track replacement work is carried out at Finchley Central. London Overground Richmond – Camden Road London Overground services will be suspended all day on Sunday between Richmond and Camden Road via West Hampstead due to Network Rail track work. Highbury & Islington – New Cross /New Cross Gate London Overground services will be suspended all weekend between Highbury & Islington and New Cross/New Cross Gate due to London Overground capacity improvement work. New Cross Gate – Crystal Palace London Overground services will be suspended on Saturday between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace due to London Overground capacity improvement work. Sydenham – West Croydon London Overground services will be suspended all weekend between Sydenham and West Croydon. On Saturday it is owing to London Overground capacity improvement work and on Sunday Network Rail electrical works will be carried out. Surrey Quays – Clapham Junction London Overground services will be suspended all weekend between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction due to London Overground capacity improvement work. Events Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on Sunday There will be road closures in Hyde Park, Westminster and the City on the morning of Sunday 6 October, when the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon will take place. Although much of the event will take place in Hyde Park, Green Park and St James’s Park, a number of key roads in the area will be closed to traffic as they will form part of the 13.1 mile Half Marathon route. These include Hyde Park Corner, Parliament Square, Victoria Embankment and Westminster Bridge. Try to avoid driving in or through the affected areas on the morning or early afternoon of Sunday 6 October unless absolutely necessary, as the event has caused serious delays to road journeys in previous years If driving is your only option, please travel at a different time if possible or allow more time for your journey. To plan your travel, check the road closure and alternative travel information at tfl.gov.uk/royalparkshalf Roads Edgware Road night-time resurfacing works At Edgware Road in both directions between St John’s Wood and Marble Arch until the end of October there will be two way temporary traffic signals, localised side road closures and traffic diversions, to facilitate overnight carriageway resurfacing works. Abingdon Street road works between Parliament Square and Horseferry Road Abingdon Street southbound between Parliament Square and Horseferry Road is closed to facilitate gully repair works until Monday evening 11 October. Regent Street road works Regent Street will have southbound lane restrictions between Air Street and Piccadilly to facilitate Thames Water works from 10 am on Saturday to 5pm on Sunday. A4 Great West Road night-time maintenance works The A4 Great West Road will be closed eastbound between Lionel Road North and Chiswick Roundabout to facilitate overnight resurfacing works from just before Monday 7 October and Friday 11 October.
