Ladies, I just managed to bring back some frozen bm from a 3week - TopicsExpress

Ladies, I just managed to bring back some frozen bm from a 3week trip to San Diego. I bought dry ice from a supermarket (apparently they all sell dry ice in regular supermarkets), chucked it into my Styrofoam cooler n sealed it with masking tape. A few lessons from this experience: 1) Arrive extra early to check in. Dry ice is considered a dangerous weapon for some carriers so therell be extra paperwork theyll need to do. Ours took quite awhile, luckily we preempted it n went in early. We also took longer at the ticketing counter during transit cos of this. 2) Only seal the box with masking tape at check in counter. I sealed everything cantik cantik then had to tear out all the masking tape at the counter cos they wanted to look inside. 3) That was when we were told that weight limit for dry ice is only 2kg. They had to throw out one of the 2 blocks of dry ice that I bought. I bought abt 4kilos of dry ice for my 1 Styrofoam cooler n paid abt $12 for it. 4) Dont completely seal the box with dry ice inside, make sure theres an outlet for it. If Styrofoam box, u can just punch 1 small hole for the gas to escape, otherwise the lid should be loose enough (ie not airtight) to let the gas to escape. If its airtight the box will explode/ burst open n if u fly long haul, itll probably happen mid-flight. Despite all that, my milk arrived home 99% still frozen. All went straight into my freezer :) Hopefully my experience will help mummies here have a more seamless experience transporting milk home. Peace and love to you all.
