Lets be honest, God gets no real bargains with any of us even - TopicsExpress

Lets be honest, God gets no real bargains with any of us even though there are plenty who think they are indispensable. But He makes do with what He has as many of us do. You do the best you can with what you have to work with. God had the Israelites and He made do if you will. But He does this with all of us. We are all diamonds in the rough or a shapeless lump of clay or an uncut gem. But He sees the potential in us and He shapes and molds us to what He wants us to be. It may not be what we think we want to be, but He knows what is best for us a lot better than we do. For He has plans for us and they are good plans. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Anyone who thinks that God has it in for them had best read this verse. He gave me this verse at the lowest point of my life and it was my personal turning point in my walk with Him, which was by then a crawl. We need to remember that God is a Master Artist who makes our dirty canvases a tabula rasa by the Blood of Jesus, who takes the lumps of clay that are us or the uncut precious gems that are us and gets to work. He either places us on the wheel and takes us for the ride of our lives or He applies the paints to our clean canvas or chips away at the rough edges and making them instead, beautiful facets. God can do that you know. What seems like the heaviest burden is actually what refines us into His objects dart. Diamonds are coal that are subjected to extreme, prolonged pressure. He does not give us what we cannot handle, even if we think He does. It is said if we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can tell a mountain to move into the sea and it will. I guess that says a little too much about the size of our faith. And not in a good way. But He is, as it has been determined, a God of order and He WILL have order! He gives each one of us a gift, but sadly many are not content with the gift He has given them. They want someone elses instead of cultivating and tending the one they have. It is like the servant who took his one talent and hid it. When the time comes, even that one talent will be taken and given to the one who cultivated and grew the talent he was given. And those who look for and receive applause from the world get an empty reward indeed. Colossians 3:23 -24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. We answer to the Lord ultimately. Well we all do but for those who follow Him we are held to a higher standard. Much more is expected of us than of those who are in the world. And that is how it should be! God tells us to be holy as He is holy. Which in and of ourselves is impossible, but with God nothing is impossible. And He makes us holy through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As the Levites were set apart for the service in the tabernacle and all that was in it, we too are set apart for His service. And we best be paying attention for what He would have us do as well as the Israelites did.
