Listen and please listen very closely. Things will never change when the only response to racism and hatred is done by participating in anything hateful or racist. We as people, black and white know what is right and what is wrong. One cannot hide behind race after doing something wrong. At the same token there are few wrong things that any human can do which equal death as punishment. The Constitution gives all people, even non citizens the right to peacefully assemble, protest and to exercise ones right to the freedom of speech. But it does not allow anyone to take the life of another, injure anyone or destroy the property of another to get your opinion across. Response to incidents where there is the unfair application of due process, racist practices and systematic oppression of any people should be addressed ALL the time, but it should also be done with intelligence, research and FACTS. What everyone should know and try to understand about law, penal, civil and municipal and how they vary from state to state. One needs to know the elements of a particular statue and how each element must be present to charge and convict an individual with that crime. This particular news story explains how the jury, which may have not been racist but influenced by an individual who had a motivation to confuse them into not deciding on an indictment. So the next time you think about throwing a brick, rock, blaming, cursing or looking for a reason to HATE the police, know and have a personal reason or experience to justify it. Not all police are bad and not all are good. If you want to jump on the bandwagon of just hating the police, you are perpetuating the same practice you say all cops do profiling I have also noticed during the protest when young black men have been shot or killed by police, that in every single March or demonstrations which I have been a part of, the most violent and destructive and subjects arrested have not been black? The photos especially in SF and Oakland seem to consist of non-minorities causing vandalism and participating in looting? Do the research as I did not write this to stand on a soap box, nor am I here to tell you that I agree with Wilson, because I dont. Thats my opinion based on the facts I have access to. My only question is where are you when the violence is in the projects, schools or when a police officer shoots someone who isnt a minority. Dont hide in a crowd I am sure the minority communities can benefit from your participation in fundraising or protests that address the educational or economical issues faced by young black men. You see the only person afraid of a educated young black man is truly a racist, and they my friends come in all colors! I just hope that the civil trial truly sheds light on what happened during the deliberations. We all must do better as people!
