Long rant ahead. This has been going on for years but Israel has just now decided to start using social media to prove its going on. Hamas uses children, women, and injured as human shields, moving from school to hospital to womens centers to fire rockets into Israel. When Israel defends themselves there are often civilian casualties. Israel is put in the position of either not defending themselves against hundreds of rockets fired into Israeli cities every week or accepting the reality that the Palestinian citizens will be unintended victims. Israel defends themselves and instead of showing whats really going on the media portrays them as ruthless killers. This after Hamas leader announced once again that Israel has no right to exist and that its ok for his group of terrorists to use human shields because those killed are martyrs who are rewarded in heaven. Even when the martyrs are too young or sick to know they are being exploited and their lives are in danger. Israel has been announcing days ahead of time and even dropping pamphlets warning citizens they will attack certain high population areas in an attempt to get as many innocent citizens out. Instead, Hamas rounds people up and drives them back to the area, guaranteeing deaths for the media to photograph. There are a lot of people I know who think Israel is completely wrong. Not a single one of them appear to want to know the true story. And I always ask them this question, and they have no reply: If a terrorist group who said you have no right to live and that they will not stop until you are dead started shooting missiles at your country, how long do you think your country would tolerate that? How long do you think the U.S. would tolerate terrorists in Canada or Mexico firing missiles at us? About 3 seconds. Yet the rest of the world condemns Israel for defending themselves. I find that to be not only misinformed but asinine. People have a right to defend themselves against terrorists, and make no mistake, that is exactly what Hamas is - terrorists. Hamas has so far fired over 2,600 rockets into Israel in this latest round of fighting, and Israel estimates Hamas has over 5,000 remaining. Israel has also destroyed over 20 tunnels, but every day Hamas sends fighters through another tunnel to attack unsuspecting Israeli citizens and troops. Today Hamas detonated a tunnel under a house they had booby trapped, killing 3 IDF soldiers and wounding another 27 who were there to seal the tunnel. Israel estimates Hamas may have over 100 tunnels, and they know that many of them stretch over 4 miles and required enough building materials to build up to 19 medical clinics each. Those are clinics that the poor citizens of Gaza desperately need but do not get because Hamas does not care for their own citizens well being. Hamas asked for a cease fire two days ago because it was a holiday to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Israel agreed, and not 45 minutes later Hamas sent terrorists through a tunnel into an Israeli city, killing citizens and soldiers. The story in this link reports on an openly known fact that Hamas has a command center in the largest hospital in Gaza City, yet refuses to allow reporters to take photographs of it or report on it. Israel knows it is there because they built it. Yesterday Hamas terrorists hid in the only power plant for Gaza City, fired on Israeli tanks, who returned fire. The end result was a fire broke out, burning the power plant to the ground, knocking out power to 1.8 million people. In the last week Hamas has hid repeatedly in schools, even U.N. run schools, full of children, and fired rockets into Israel. They have hid in hospitals and fired rockets, hoping Israel returns fire, with the goal being to have dead kids and hospital patients to line up for pictures for the media, who gobble it up. The entire situation is ridiculous when a terrorist group openly calls for the murder of an entire country and gets all the media sympathy. The moral of the story is there is often more than one side to a story, especially when we are counting on the media to accurately portray facts.
