Looong day... more so for Melanie than I. Melanie brought our youngest daughter to the E.R. this morning around 11. A little back story: Mayas not been feeling well for the last few days, complete with vomiting and fever. Melanie took her to the doctor twice. Yesterday, she started having severe stomach pains. Figuring it was likely gastrointestinal, we decided to give her simethicone to help ease the pain. It didnt do much to help. This morning, she seemed to be doing relatively better, but we still allowed her to stay home from school because she still wasnt even up to 60%. Around 10 am this morning, she called her mom because she was doubling over with stomach pain again. Long story short, Melanie took her to the E.R., they ran some tests, determined it was some gastric blockage and, since she was in so much pain, decided to admit her. I left work early to go meet them at the hospital. Maya was settled in her room by the time I got there. I offered to spend the night with Maya so Melanie could go home and rest, but she refused because she didnt want to be away from Maya. I told her to go for a bit to get some food and essentials, which she did. Eventually, they brought in some kind of liquid flush that Maya has to drink (like a gallon or two of), which apparently tastes like what two-day old tap water would if it were saltwater. Maya tried, but couldnt stop from being nauseated by the taste, so she opted for the feeding tube. So, basically, they intubated her and are getting the liquid in her that way. When I left both she and Melanie looked absolutely exhausted. Melanie has been texting me since. Maya wont stop crying and keeps begging for the tube to be taken out. Please say a prayer tonight for my baby girl, that she feels better by morning. And please say a prayer for Melanie, whos exhausted but still hanging in there for our baby. Thanks.
