MAKE YOUR MARK While in USA for a recent business conference, - TopicsExpress

MAKE YOUR MARK While in USA for a recent business conference, we met a group of men and women from Angola. They had developed their business in their country and were the business leaders. The country has had its’ fair share of political, economical and regional problems. A few of the people we saw within this team were not even able to step on an escalator- one man said he had never seen it before. Yet they had taken a business opportunity and built it to a point where they had made their mark within their community and countries. Much more remarkable for me was a gentleman who seemed to be the team leader. He took a training session and taught us how; despite all the problems of his country, he chose to start and grow this business and influence so many lives positively. The gentleman mentioned that he was determined to make a mark and just saw this business as an opportunity for him to do so. He challenged all of us that were from relatively more settled countries that we should not be complacent because of our environment but to choose to make a mark. Why would someone from such a humble and disturbed area still have the desire to make a mark? This man made me see that our environment should never limit us. Making a mark is a personal decision. After listening to this gentleman, pastor Eddie said; now I know that no one has an excuse not to make a mark in their generation. There is no basis for living a mediocre life. A life that does not matter nor affect anybody elses life positively. This is not the life we have been called to live. What God has deposited in us is capable of helping us make a mark in our generation- but we have to make a conscious decision to live a life that matters. The Angolan gentleman challenged me to examine my life and to ensure that no matter what I do, I am called and meant to make a mark; an impact and not just an impression. It does not matter what we do, we should just ensure we get so good at it and do it so well that we become known for the impact weve made in other peoples lives. Gods word says Let your light so shine before others they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 We are not called to make an impression but to make an impact. An impactful life is a life that shines before others; evidenced with good works or deeds. Good deeds are seen by many people, it does not need to be announced but to be displayed. Every time we choose a field and determine to get good at it, put in the effort required with the spirit of God inside us, we give people a chance to see our light shine and recognise whom we have in us- Jesus. As Christians, we should determine to be the best at anything we choose to do so that we can impact our world positively. No excuse should be big enough to make us average. If the man from Angola is able to stand out with his business, despite all the challenges and excuses available to him- then I have no choice but to live my life in such a way that I will impact and not just impress my world. 21 years ago today, Eddie and I made a covenant with God and ourselves as we entered the marriage institution. We trusted God to help us make a mark and we have been blessed to date with testimonies and stories of such impact in peoples lives. I am eternally grateful to God for giving me my best friend, man of God and a visionary as a husband and I am more in love with him now than even when we first started. Thank you so much Lord Jesus and thank you ever so much Eddie. God is on our side! PB
