MUTHARIKA LAMBASTS CHAKWERA; CALLS HIM A POLITICAL DUNDERHEAD The tension between Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) refuses to die as Peter Mutharika has lashed at Lazarus Chakwera calling him a political dunderhead with bad advisers. The episode comes after DPPs George Chaponda told a local radio station that his party does not need votes from the Northern Region to win the forthcoming election. Since those remarks, the MCP President has used his every press briefing to attack the DPP calling them tribalistic and not fit to rule the country again. However, this has not gone down well Peter Mutharika who has hit back at the MCP leader. Mutharika says Chakwera operates on bad advice from his poor advisers hence making comments without digging deep into issues. He adds that if Chakwera boasts of being a good leader he should learn to close his ears to issues that are divisive let alone not commenting on them in public. But MCP spokesperson has called Mutharika, a morally deficient human masquerading as a political god. He should know that our brothers and sisters from the North have been heavily offended by Chapondas remarks. We will not say much but come May 20 Malawians will be better judges, said Kabwila. It is yet to be seen how this tension will affect campaign in both camps ahead of the elections.
