Mbusi has grown to become one of Kenyas greatest radio phenomenon - TopicsExpress

Mbusi has grown to become one of Kenyas greatest radio phenomenon since he first went on air at Ghetto Radio almost five years ago. However his going live is shrouded in controversy and hurdles that not many know about. The bubbly radio presenter who currently hosts the drive show on Radio Jambo started his trade at Ghetto Radio as a messenger. As you would expect there were no ranks for him to rise through to become the most sought after reggae presenter, in Kenya since he was a mere office messenger. It took the intervention of one Dennis Sila for Mbusi to get his first ever stab at radio, a passion he had deep inside him. Dennis who was the producer and presenter of Goteana at the time saw the passion and hunger for radio in the messengers eyes and he let him have ago off air. With time he allowed Mbusi to say a thing or two live on air. Whenever i put him on air all he would do was greet listeners then do his signature piece Kijana Mpienga aliye na mapoo. This, Dennis says put him in trouble with the station manager who did not like the idea of having the office messenger on air. I remember i even had my salary slashed for allowing Mbusi to go on air but i had seen his passion and talent, i had a burning desire to make sure he got behind the mic. He kept on sneaking Mbusi into the studio during his show Goteana and the response he got from listeners was phenomenal. The activity on social media went wild whenever i put Mbusi on he says. By now Dennis was convinced that Mbusi would be a hit and he gave him longer stints on the mic, with time he would purposely get late for the show and Mbusi would be asked to step in. The young untrained presenter grabbed the opportunity and worked his magic and listeners went wild, finally lady luck had smiled at him. I was ready to do anything to have Mbusis dream come true, i had my salary slashed and even got suspended for letting Mbusi go on air but i was determined he says. Dennis would eventually relinquish the hosting job to Mbusi to concentrate on producing the show and together Goteana became the stations most listened to show and even rivaled other drive shows from big stations. Dee as he is popularly known has since moved on to Media Maxs Milele fm where he is head of production working with the likes of other radio heavyweights such as Doctor Ofweneke, Allan Wakori, Nzula Makosi Mogaka , Ambia Hirsi, Masawe Japani and Titi Nagwalla. The producer who horned his skills at Royal Medias defunct YFM currently hosts the Caribbean connection a reggae and dancehall show which airs on Milele Fm on Saturday. If Goteana is anything to go buy, his show is also set to scale greater heights.
