Moong dal with jeera rice The moong dal becomes creamy as I have used white butter here. Using white butter in any recipe will give it a soft and creamy texture and a lovely taste. Ingredients for the creamy moong dal recipe: * 1 cup moong dal * 2 tablespoons white butter * 1/2 tsp haldi * 1 tsp chili powder * Half tsp garam masala powder * 1 chopped green chili * 1 chopped onion * 1 chopped tomato * 1 chopped garlic * 1 chopped ginger * 1 tsp cumin seeds/jeera * 3 cups water or more if required Method for making moong dal: 1: Firstly, wash and clean the moong dal. In a pressure cooker, add all the ingredients mentioned above including the moong dal. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Check to see if the moong dal is cooked or not. If not completely cooked, you can cook it for 1-2 whistles more. 2: When the moong dal is cooked, then blend the dal with the other cooked ingredients like onion, tomato etc. You can do this with the spoon or spatula.If more water is there simmer till the water evaporates. The dal should not be too watery nor too thick. If there is less water, then you can add more and simmer the dal. Once you get the right consistency of your choice, then check the taste. Add more of salt or chili powder if the need arises. Garnish with coriander leaves. 3: Serve moong dal hot with rotis, parathas, jeera rice or plain rice.
