Multiple Constitutional right abuses takes place on the Cape Flats. Apart from the gangsters authorities also suffer the brunt and danger. However this is but one reason why external help is necessary. It happens everyday but this was my Human Right Day. This photo was taken 5 minutes before gang violence in Hanover Park while I was on my scooter - (Yes hell). I found one of the biggest obstacles to calling in gang violence is a requirement by SAPS (when one calls 10111) to disclose your home address before they can ACT or COMBAT!!. No name - no details - merely where you and where you live with your family? No Anonymous Disclosures in order for the South African Police Service to ACT. Having some knowledge about SAPS I am aware they record the calls so I reported the incident anyway. The gangsters had no area respect (old school). There were no opposing gangsters in the COURT just KIDS. I manage to report - Shots were fired - the road name and number of individuals involved. Now in a perfect world this address requirement would be logical and reasonable but not when the SAPS is allegedly corrupt and aligned with the gangs (certain cops for certain gangs allegedly :-))- The result is locals do not report anything to them and certainly not when you are going to have to give your address. The SAPS did come eventually and walked in the area 30 minutes later. (Which meant I could go home %-) But that was too little too late. I was told again yesterday the biggest problem with the craziness is matters even when reported are not investigated?? Well if true the information sounds in line with the statistics made public by Dan Plato. The number of successful prosecutions are dismal on the flats check it out. This is merely one aspect which need to be investigated. This merely one incident. This is no fun fight.
