My actual goal is as simple as having a functioning noise gate so my recordings dont need so much manual cleaning up. Thats all I want. I dont want to add sound effects or anything, but Im so frustrated with sound equipment. Ive purchased mixers, a gate limiter, cables, mics and tried to follow directions and the sound Im getting is still no better than what I could get from my Android phone. Tons of background noise. My gate/limiter (Behringer Composer Pro-XL) buzzes as soon as you turn the power on...with nothing plugged into it. Honestly, it sits on my desk buzzing. Really? Im frustrated as hell and Ive spent a bunch of money with little to nothing to show for it. My USB mic (Rode Podcaster) plugged into my Mac sounds way better than anything Ive gotten with this equipment. So. Frustrated.
