My friend balogun abdulfatah alluded that the reason boko haram persists is because it is a northern Nigerian thing and thus it is the responsibility of the northerners to solve "their"problem. The point to ponder here is when citizens take up arms to defend a national threat where the nation has a standard security apparatus then certainly the sovereignty of the nation is threatened. Of course it may seem ok now the so called civilian jtf is fighting the insurgents but what happens when the crises is over? Will the civilian jtf be given the type of compensation meted out to the Niger delta militants or will the young men be just ignored and allowed to take out their vengeance on the hapless civilians and the country at large for neglecting them? Or is this going to be a prelude to the "dreaded " state police? So many questions begging for answers yet the politicians are only concerned with how to win the next election and continue the looting spree while the nation is gradually grinding to a halt because of irresponsible leadership.
