My thoughts for the day regarding Prevo Rodgers Jr and his song - TopicsExpress

My thoughts for the day regarding Prevo Rodgers Jr and his song Moonshine. There seems to be so much of a parallel between this song and the actual life that Prevo has lived. The song started out with a strong debut at #33 on the ICEMANs top 40 countdown. Similar to how Prevos music career started, he had such a promising career full of hopes and dreams of the neon lights. For a moment it seemed like the vertex was so close. Then with one phone call and the blink of an eye something totally uncontrollable wiped away those neon dreams. Prevo was call to the highest duty as an American citizen to defend this great country that extends to us so many blessings one which is to create the music we so love. During this tour of duty as many of you now know an IED or improvised explosive device exploded. In an odd turn of uncontrollable events a promising and rising singing star was left voiceless. Can you imaging what its must have been like to be a promising Nashville singer songwriter and now youre simply voiceless. Prevo wont really tell you but this was very difficult for sure. To lose something that causes you to stay awake at night and rise early in the morning...now its simply a memory of what use to be. For years Prevo would endure countless surgeries in hope of restoring a long lost dream. Surly what once was to be was now just fading thoughts. Time and time again doctors would operate hoping for favorable results. During this difficult time of silence I find it so beautiful that his wife or the better part of him became his words and would often speak for him. Its amazing to think just how much a mans wife actually says about a man himself. I think a man is never more of a man that when he finds the right woman and thats just what Lisa M Rodgers is for Prevo...simply the perfect woman. Now that doesnt mean that they dont ever have stormy moment, every tropical paradise has moments of storms. But in a moment the clouds pass revealing all the beauty the rain has restored. I think in many occasions Prevo and Lisa have taught each other how to dance in the storms of life knowing the sun would soon shine again. It seems that the world has often desired to knock him down, but God gave him a wife that offer relentless support never letting him fall. Funny thing is they wasnt even married in a church the way we think marriages have to be in order to receive proper blessings...no he was standing beside a refrigerator popped the question and they simply went to the courthouse. All these years later this stands to prove that love is stronger than diamonds, license or even opinions. They have the one things that simply glues life together and that is love. After seven vocal surgeries Prevo was finally able to have a partial voice again. He now speaks with what sounds like a strong whisper...which I find amazing. Sometimes the strongest words ever uttered were but mere whispers. I pick at him a lot and often imitate him simply because I love him. We first met almost two years ago. I was recently back from visiting Nashville trying to learn more about writing songs. I had heard people talking about a man named Prevo that lived in the adjacent county called Saluda. To me a man named Prevo just sounded like a song. I finally contacted him to see if hed work with me a little and if anybody knows Prevo, he will help. I drove over to his studio 308 Productions and was greeted by a giant man with a soft whisper. He said hey brother is nice to finally meet you. During that time he was recovering from a hernia operation. He also thought he had a spider bite but time would prove this to be so much more. Unfortunately this wasnt a spider bite but the beginning of another nightmare. The mesh used for his hernia procedure had become grossly infected and was literally killing him. I say all of this to tell you that for the next year Prevo would often sit enduring tremendous pain helping me write songs. Often times he would be in great discomfort due to the drains in his abdomen to reduce infected fluids. Sometimes he would work until the pain was just too much and hed look over at me and say sorry man but Ive gotta go in the house and take some pain medication. Many of these times I would even see him sweating from the fever due to the infection. Then one night out of nowhere Prevo and I wrote the song Moonshine with another friend Travis Smith from Woodruff SC. The true story is I was supposed to be going to meet a senator but I just dont like politics all that much, so I asked if I could stay with Prevo and let his wife Lisa go to the meeting in my place. During this time someone had to stay with Prevo due to his sickness and I thought it was a great opportunity to miss talking to politicians. It all worked out so Travis went with me. We had been writing earlier that day and I wanted him to meet Prevo as well. Long story short, that night we wrote Moonshine with a little help from Moonshine. My friends Terry Alford Gage heard the song one night when we were travelling to Nashville and loved the song. She said we had to cut the song with Prevo singing. This had never even been a thought because he had lost his voice. We took a shot and put the song out there and the next thing you know some guy called the ICEMAN was playing it on the radio. The song has so far made it to #9 to our total surprise. Last week the song fell back to #12 and I ask myself do we let it fall or should I put effort into trying to rebirth the onward march. So much has been on my mind like the quote of my good friend Walt Stewart who says always onward. Then thinking about the life of my friend Prevo, he has never given up and never give in even through all of the pain and continuous set backs. So I make this appeal to you...if you believe in the underdog, if you believe in dreams coming true, if you believe that the impossible is possible, if you believe great things can happen to good people, if you believe that the little man can rise up, if you believe...then I ask you to join with me in keeping this little ol song by Prevo climbing up the charts. How can you help? Share his amazing story, call the ICEMAN at 1-844-423-6261, go to bestcountryradio and vote for Moonshine by Prevo. Make a sign asking the ICEMAN to play Moonshine by Prevo and post it on your page. But most of all never ever give up on living your dreams. Two of the most powerful forces we know are love and dreams. Dream big and live long always dancing to your own little song. Life is short so live every moment like its the last and never give up...Great things do happen. I like to call the ICEMAN Bobby Golomboski the dream maker...this man wakes up everyday and from the goodness of his heat makes another dream come true. Stop for a moment and ask yourself...where would I be right now with out the ICEMAN. Moonshine would have never been heard as well as many of the other amazing songs we get to listen to....so thank you ICEMAN for making dreams come true! We love you!
