My thoughts today are with the 1600 workers at Holden, and the thousands of other workers around the State, who will be affected by Holdens decision to close their manufacturing operations. This is a dark day for South Australia. This decision was not inevitable. Holden has been telling us for months what they would need to continue manufacturing in Australia. It was on this basis that we continued to fight for the car industry, and for the futures of thousands of workers, their families, and the communities to which they belong. But by cutting funding, and then this week attacking Holden, Tony Abbott and the Liberals have forced the company out of Australia. South Australia is a resilient state. We have always faced challenges, and we will face this one. I will continue to fight for these workers - I hope every South Australian will join me.
