NAPOLES CANNOT QUALIFY AS STATE WITNESS The alleged mastermind of the P 10-Billion pork barrel scam, Janet Lim-Napoles, cannot qualify as state witness and given special treatment by the government based on legal grounds. A state witness is qualified on the basis of critical need for material witness to enable the case to prosper, and the witness must be the least guilty among the indicted parties. There are about a dozen credible and material witnesses that have come forward to corroborate the crime, while Napoles is the alleged mastermind of the scam, ergo Janet Lim-Napoles does not qualify as state witness and provided with legal protection and other benefits. The ill-advised and inappropriate act of PNoy being the head of state, to personally "escort" a low-life scammer like Napoles to Camp Crame is a diminution of the presidency and unnecessarily triggered speculations of giving special treatment to Napoles. Worst the gesture may be seen as an extension of MOST influence peddling services in the highest office of the land. But lets continue giving the executive the opportunity to demonstrate its sincerity in battling corruption, as we push for the scrapping of the graft-ridden pork barrel system and the prosecution of all guilty parties, whatever their affiliations maybe.
