NEWS RELEASE Call for Entries: Arkansas Arts Council Seeks Submissions for 2014 Small Works on Paper Juried Art Exhibition FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 3, 2013 LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Arkansas Arts Council is now seeking submissions by Arkansas artists for the 27th annual 2014 Small Works on Paper exhibition. The accepted artwork will be featured in a year-long exhibition that travels to 10 Arkansas communities. Deadline for entries is July 26, 2013. Entry forms are available online at arkansasarts.org or by calling (501) 324-9766. Entries will be juried by Mary Kennedy, CEO of the Mid-America Arts Alliance. Kennedy is the past director of ExhibitsUSA and curator of exhibitions for M-AAA. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from the University of Kansas and a Master of Arts degree in art history/museum studies from the University of Southern California. Arkansas artists may enter up to three works of art on paper (no larger than 24x24 inches) for a fee of $10 per entry or $25 for three entries. Works must have been completed within the last two years. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected purchase awards, which become part of the Small Works on Paper permanent collection. To be eligible to submit entries, artists must be members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, or they may join for free at time of entry. The Arkansas Artist Registry is a comprehensive online gallery of more than 500 Arkansas artists and their work. The Registry serves as a valuable resource for member artists to market their work and to connect to collectors, curators or anyone searching for artists and their art. Membership to the Registry, found on the Arkansas Arts Council’s website at arkansasarts.org, is open to all Arkansas artists. Artists whose work is selected for the 2014 Small Works on Paper exhibition will be notified in September 2013. The exhibition will open at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff in January 2014.
