NFF board votes out Maigari The Nigeria Football Federation [NFF] Executive Committee has dismissed its president, Aminu Maigari after a meeting held in Abuja on Thursday. The executive committee of the football federation explained that it voted out Maigari on grounds of financial misappropriation, misapplication and maladministration. The NFF vice president, Mike Umeh, has been mandated by committee to serve as acting president pending elections which will be held next month. After thorough and exhaustive deliberations on the uncalled-for secrecy surrounding all financial dealings of the Federation and failure to call meeting of the Executive Committee for the past eight months, during which so many weighty decisions on Nigeria football had been taken by a small cabal within the Board, the Executive Committee passed a vote of no confidence on the NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari. In view of the above, the committee approved the immediate dismissal of Alhaji Aminu Maigari, from the NFF Executive Committee on grounds of financial misappropriation, misapplication and maladministration. The committee resolved to mandate the 1st Vice President, Chief Mike Okeke Umeh as Acting President, to preside over the affairs of the Federation, pending the composition of the new NFF Executive Committee after the elections of Tuesday, 26th August, 2014 a statement from the NFF revealed on Thursday. Maigari and the NFF board and congress were first refrained by a High Court in Jos, Plateau State from managing Nigerian football leading to a suspension by Fifa However, the vacation of the court case and subsequent reinstatement of Maigari ensured Fifa lifted the suspension and Nigeria escaped an outright ban. It is not the first time that the NFF president is being voted out by the federation’s executive committee, as Sani Lulu suffered same fate in 2010.
