NHC has upgraded Tropical Storm Lowell to a hurricane - the seventh hurricane of the eastern North Pacific hurricane season. Its centered about 810 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. Maximum sustained winds are 75 mph - a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Little change in the intensity is expected today, but slow weakening should begin tonight and continue through Saturday. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Karina has restrengthened a bit, centered about 1240 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. Maximum sustained winds are 60 mph.
