(NLT) Ephesians 1:5,6 5- God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. This is where we derive part of the doctrine of adoption from. He chose us, we didnt choose Him 1 Peter 1:2 2 God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace. So we were set apart (which is part of the definition of sanctification) before being sanctified by Christ. So that means that we dont choose God but God chooses us which makes me curious. Why do we say, I found Christ. In our total depravity theres noooooo way we would ever want Christ. I would argue that if you dont understand mans total depravity then you dont understand the need for a Savior right? The Ten Commandments help spell out what sin is and in doing so should make you see that we are unholy, unrighteous, and a self destructive bunch of people and thats where the Pharisees and Religious rulers went wrong. They tried to live by it and in turn puffed themselves up with pride instead of showing that they are incapable of meeting Gods standards and surrendering over to God. All of that of course would mean you also would have to believe that the bible is infallible but thats a discussion for a different time. As, Id say, most people either dont believe its infallibility and/or read it like a newspaper. Just some late night thinking/rambling and hopefully some discussion on Adoption, Pre-Destination, or whatever may derive from this
