National Night Out 2014 was Tuesday, August 5, 2014! Officers from CHP and other allied law enforcement agencies visited block parties and community events throughout the Bay Area! The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. The National Night Out program culminates annually, on the first Tuesday of August. Last years National Night Out campaign involved community members, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials from over 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in the 2013 National Night Out event. The CHP made it out to communities all over the Bay Area, many in cooperation with officers from the local law enforcement agency.
