National boxing legend Ultiminio “Sugar” Ramos, Cuban-Mexican Featherweight Champion and member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, visited last week a training session of the Mexico Guerreros, ahead of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) Exhibition Match between the Mexicans and the Cuba Domadores. After winning the Champion’s belt in Cuba in 1960, Ramos fled to Mexico when Fidel Castro came into power and became a legend in pro boxing (59-7). Today, 72 of age, he is still very active in the boxing world and shared his vast experience with the Guerreros, wishing them the best of luck for the match. “Sugar” was joined by another Mexican World Champion, Light Flyweight Isaac “Tortas” Bustos, as well as Mr. Luis Antonio Herrera from FireSports, sponsor of both Mexican and Cuban WSB Franchises, all invited at the Mexican Olympic Committee by Mr. Ricardo Contreras, President of the Mexican Boxing Federation. In the discussions, Bustos highlighted the pride that the Guerreros should have of representing Mexico, and encouraged all boxers to make the most of their experience in the WSB, where they will face the best in the world while still pursuing their dream of an Olympic medal. The Mexico Guerreros and the Cuba Domadores will meet in an historical Exhibition Match on August 29th and 30th in Mexico City. The match will feature some of the biggest names in the boxing world.
