News from around ClubOne! 13s Gold The 2015 season is off and running! Our 13’s team played in the RMR Classic over MLK weekend. Day one saw good results with a 2 and 1 record and a second place finish in pool play. Day 2 was bracket play and we were seeded 5th overall in the Gold bracket. We won our first match of the day and moved on to the semi-final match. We played a very competitive match but ended up losing to the eventual champion 24-26 and 23-25. This put us in the 3rd place match which we lost in 3. The girls had a great first tournament with a 4th place finish. We played in Power 1 this weekend and took 1st place! We finished 3-0 in pool play and played a Momentum team in the crossover match. The crossover was one game to 25 and the girls came out ready to play! The girls played hard the entire set and stayed aggressive until the end. Every player contributed in this win and it was well deserved! - Coach Michelle 15s Gold This weekend we attended the Colorado Challenge 3 day Tournament in Co. Springs. The team is continuing to learn and grow with each match we play. We have seen a lot of positive moments in our matches. The players are doing a great job of understanding and working toward the” Team” concept. We have taken some opportunities to start to put players in different positions so they may understand the many responsibilities on the court. We have been practicing hard and will continue to push forward as we get ready for our next tournament. We are looking forward to watching the girl’s progress as the season continues. - Coach Mark 16s Gold The 16 Gold team competed in Power 1 on January 11th where they were able to improve significantly as the day went on. As the first tournament of the year the team had to work through the challenges of playing together for the first time and playing against high level teams. From the first match to the final crossover game the team continuously got better every time they stepped on the court. The team finished strong and was able to finish the day with a win in the crossover game. The Colorado Challenge this last weekend provided a great opportunity for the team to get to know one another on and off the court and an opportunity to compete in a three day tournament. The tournament provided opportunities for all players to compete and to work through challenging opponents. On the final day, the team worked hard and really played together and they were successful in finishing the tournament strong. - Coach Amy 17s Gold We had a very good first 2-day tournament. We ended up 7th out of 16 teams. The team showed great team spirit and the willingness to work together even when times got tough. The team had good cohesiveness that we will continue to build on throughout the year. We were 2-1 after Saturday and 1-2 on Sunday. In our one loss on Saturday we got the chance to play them again Sunday and ended up with a win. We got the chance to see all the players in game situations and evaluate where we need to improve our skills. Several players got put in new positions and did a great a job. We had several players step up their game; Merissa, Avery Kylie and Bailey. - Coach Morgan
