No. 5 Squadron Falcons Base Rafiqui Planes Tempest II Hawker Fury F-86 Sabre Mirage III F-16C/D Block 50/52+ his was formed on August 15, 1947 at Peshawar from the personnel of No. 1 RIAF Squadron, with Sqn. Ldr. Z. Ahmad as its first Commander. The squadron was equipped with eight Tempest MK II aircraft, and in spite of acute shortage of technical personnel, it successfully carried out its task due primarily to the spirit and high morale of its personnel.
