No Kill Coalition shared No Kill Rapid Emergency Responses photo. Please help N.K.R.E.R. Everyone wanted an org that would respond and not kill them all... or kill the others to make room for them... People pledged that they would help, donate, volunteer and support... So we came. We set up a recovery shelter and relief center with nothing but a prayer. Everyone likes and shares our posts, but only a few take that next important step... Right now things look grim and it feels like we are forgotten. 5 months doesnt mean the emergency has passed. It isnt over until they are all safe, healthy and HOME. We are caring for 24 displaced pets. There are still dogs and cats lost out there, who we are feeding and trying to catch. We still havent raised the funds to build another dog trap after our last one was destroyed. 2 dogs contracted heartworms while living in the disaster rubble. They need treatment urgently. We have to provide food and basic care to the ones we have saved. Someone asked me: Where did all your donations go? Answer: The first 3 months we spent almost $6000 on gas for the generators to keep the animals cool in 100+ temperatures. We had no generators. We had to buy those. We had no crates or kennels. We had to buy those. We had no shelters for them. We had to buy those. We had no traps to catch them. We had to buy those. We had to get electricity set up, wired and turned on to stop using failing generators. We had animals come in ill, 2 came in with gunshots. We had to pay for gas for outreach and supplies for special needs animals and their families. We built a kitty playhouse so they could get time each day playing and socializing. (They LOVE it.)
