OK, here is something a little different. It was a particularly nice day, so I set out to ride from Mammoth Lakes around the June Lake Loop and back on my bike. I stopped briefly at the June Lake Junction and encountered these two gentlemen. I dunno what it is about being on a bike. Maybe we look so foolish, were less threatening to people, so its easier to strike up conversations with strangers. Anyway, they looked to be just the kind of people I enjoy talking to, so I approached them and asked them about themselves. They were on a walkabout. Well ... sort of. They werent walking. They were riding a motorcycle. But it was a walkabout in the sense that they were trying to find themselves and whatever connection they had with divinity, however defined. Walkabouts are my game, so it was something I could completely relate to. And thinking about it ... were they dressed any less strange than I was? We had a good long chat before I asked them what brought them to June Lake Junction. Were out of gas. Now Im used to people asking me for money, but they never brought it up. Instead, I offered. Like I said ...walkabouts are my game, so I wanted to contribute. I only had $20 with me, and since I had brought food, I thought it best to contribute it all rather than half, and defer my lunch at the Silver Lake Cafe to another day. They obliged me with a picture before I rolled away. Here they are. My guess is they are still walkabouting somewhere.
