His Paternal Grandmother (Kessea Kahl), Father (Garrett Kahl) and close friend (6 year old Jacob Krager) wanted to ensure another family never has to go through what they went through and started the Jacob Lee Schultz Swimming Memorial and Jacobs Jackets. To date they have raised over 4000.00, put up a few different Life Jacket Loaner boards at area swimming locations, collected over 588 lifejackets, given away 324 life jackets at various events, and provided swimming lessons for 44 low income individuals who otherwise may not have been able to afford lessons. In addition, Kessea approached one of our local Dive and Rescue staff and asked if she could be involved with our local Water Safety Task Force. This family has taken a heartbreaking tragedy and used it to fuel their passion to prevent drowning in our community. I feel they are more than deserving of this award and would love to see them honored for all they are doing.
