OVERVIEW OF HOW CATHOLIC FAITH CONTRADICTS THE BIBLE The Roman Catholic Church has the largest number of followers of all denominations and religious and yet her teachings and doctrine can be clearly exposed as being false. So many sincere people have been deceived by this church. The Roman Catholic Church claim to have power over the Bible and authority to change it when they see fit. “the authority of the church could therefore not be bound to the authority of the scriptures, because the church had changed the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority (canon and tradition page 263). a) Mathew 4:4, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone. The Lord uses the sword of the Spirit in his reply. The word quoted, found in De 8:3 should be used in its connection, in order to comprehend its force. But by every word, etc. The meaning is: If it pleases God to sustain by other means than bread, it will be done. His word can be trusted. God fed Israel with manna, sent by his word, and we can trust his promises. b) 1 peter 1:25, but the word of the Lord abides forever." That word is the good news which was preached to you. (RSV). Ps 102:12, 26; Isa 40:8; Lu 16:17; John 1:1, 14; 1Jo 1:1, 3. The word of the Lord endureth forever. Like its author it is eternal and never loses its power. This is the word. That word was the gospel, the very gospel preached to them by Paul and his fellow ministers c) Hebrews 4:12, For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (RSV). Pr 5:4; Isa 49:2; Jer 23:29; 1Co 14:24-25; 2Co 10:4-5; Eph 6:17; 1Pe 1:23; Re 1:16; 2:16 For the word of God. The Israelites came short because they refused to hear the word of the Lord. If we could enter in, we must take heed to the word. It is Living and active (Revision) . Sharper than any two-edged sword. Cutting keenly and in all directions. Dividing of soul and spirit. It not only gives life, but slays, as was the case with the Israelites who fell in the wilderness, and pierces to the soul and spirit. It reaches the very fountains of life. A discerner of the thoughts. It lays bare the thoughts and the intentions. This is very clear. We are to live by the word of God ALONE. Which means no man or church has been given the authority to change God’s word. Is the word of the pope able to discern the thought and intents of the heart? No, only God is able to do this. Therefore the pope CANNOT have any authority over God’s word in the Bible. The Roman Catholic Church sells the gospel through indulgences, “the church also commends almsgiving, indulgences and works of penance undertaken on behalf of the dead… an indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part or all of the temporal punishment due t sin. Indulgences may be applied to the living or the dead (catholic catechism)
