Ok...for those students who signed up for the Touch - TopicsExpress

Ok...for those students who signed up for the Touch Tournament...here is the email I received regarding the Staff and Student BBQ/BSR Forum. You will NOT be penalised for attending the Touch Tournament. In saying that, I will see you all at Touch Training this Friday from 4-5pm outside the AUSM office...cheers :) Hi Gina, I have spoken with the BSR program leader about the BSR forum and BBQ. She advised that the Forum and BBQ are not compulsory but it would be helpful for students to get an understanding of the major that is being presented. The Sport Management Class is also not compulsory but I do note that 10 or 12 classes are linked to end marks of 0-1-2 towards an overall mark for that paper. IE if you miss 2 classes you can still gain full marks with participation etc in class. The SDAS team have done our best to identify a day based on the 2013 year that best suits most students. Unfortunately the school of sport and recreation have added several Friday classes on their schedule. It is not possible for us to have a time when all students do not have a class across the university. I would not advocate for students to skip academic classes for an inter-faculty sports day but I would say that they need to make an informed choice on the above. I have not spoken to Dr Naylor and hope to tomorrow. But the consequences of attending the Inter-faculty day as I see it may be: Missed opportunity to mingle with other AUT students in AUT South at the BSR Forum and BBQ Missed opportunity to be updated on a major for the BSR program Missed opportunity to gain an extra 2 points (noting that you still have 11 more classes to do gain the full amount on offer) The Lecturer is unhappy with the students not attending the forum and class. The opportunities in going to the IFT touch are: An opportunity to mix and mingle with other AUT student from all faculties (including lunch) of AUT including City, and North Shore students. An opportunity to develop stronger links with students in your team An opportunity to be seen by AUT Touch selectors prior to AUT touch trials for the Waikato invitational and the Australian University Sports tour. An opportunity to be involved in seeing how a sports tournament is managed and delivered within AUT. An opportunity to see future volunteer options to gain experience in sports event delivery and management at AUT. The students need to make an informed decision and I believe the above outlines more information for the team to consider. Warm regards
