Okay... rant time. So... shopping for my son is EXTREMELY hard. He has always been the only child, and only grandchild on both sides of his family. Which means that since birth, he has ALWAYS had more than what he needs. (Ive had plenty of occasions where Ive thrown out things with tags still on them because hes had so much more than necessary.) Im not complaining... Im very grateful that he gets all the things that he needs... but now Im just to the point, where its extremely hard to shop for a child who has everything he wants. After talking to his dad about his Christmas plans for our son... its just worse. Apparently the child who already has a playstation 4, two playstation 3s, an xbox 360, a kindle fire hd, and many various musical instruments (which a majority are still being withheld from me... which is just frustrating in itself because I feel that I am the one who tried to push that on our son, to get him away from technology gadgets...whatever) He is now going to be receiving an iphone and wii u from his dad. While I opted for a sports/out side theme this year... I just feel like his dad is filling a very dangerous virtue of want vs need and Im just frustrated. Mind you, our child is only SEVEN years old. Am I ridiculous for thinking this is absurd?!? Im not even going to go down the road of trying to buy my sons love, Im just trying to get him active and to be a productive young boy who grows into a productive young man with realistic ideas of the world. I just feel like this is a bit much. Especially when there are so many children going without this year. :(
