On Memorial Day, at the dawn of a beautiful spring day, my Father took his last breath and passed away peacefully in his sleep. He succumbed after a heroic battle with congestive heart failure. He died as he had lived; never giving an inch, demanding the best yet with dignity and conviction. To me he was Dad; coach, task master, mentor, entrepreneur. To the men he served with during the Korean War he was simply Doc; there when they needed him just as he was always there for me. He is survived by a wife, Vicky, my four brothers: Richard, Kyle Burkhart, Jay Burkhart, and Dave Burkhart and ten grandchildren, Alexander Burkhart, Heather Burkhart, Zach Burkhart, Zoya Burkhart, Hillary Burkhart, Sara, Lauren, Colin, Tyler, and Alexandra.
