On this Christmas day and during the Hanukkah season we are - TopicsExpress

On this Christmas day and during the Hanukkah season we are surrounded by loved ones to celebrate. We may celebrate different things but one common thread that binds us all is the love we have for our family and friends. On these happy occasions, we get a chance once again to reflect on all we should be thankful for. Along with the celebration are always the moments where we remember the people who are not present because theyve passed from this life to the next. Im thinking of Harold. The picture is a picture of Harolds locker at Barnes & Noble in the breakroom. For nearly 14 years, this was his. It was his from the beginning of the store and I suspect will be his ad infinitum. It has been this way since he went onto his next journey. Its a little homage to how much a part of the store he was and how much none of us really want to fully let go. Theres also a picture of him in the room. Every new employee is given a little history lesson and introduction to him. Its kind of cruel, in a way, to tell them what they missed out on but I think its important to tell them of Harold. I feel they should know of him at least. Tonight when I raise a glass of juice (I dont drink); look up and reflect on the loved ones who have passed, I will say heres to all of you. Harold say hello to my Dad for me.
