Once a group of men walked by Jesus (peace be upon him) and they - TopicsExpress

Once a group of men walked by Jesus (peace be upon him) and they cursed him. He replied, Peace be upon you. His disciples were shocked by his response and said, They curse you and you greet them? He responded and said: “Vessels can only pour forth what they contain.” Everything that is happening in Israel/Gaza right now is a manifestation of this brilliant quote. - Israel was created in wickedness, built on wickedness, and is sustained through wickedness and thus begets corruption, evil, mischief and destruction. - Palestine was taken to the slaughter decades ago and its oppressors have not lifted the blade once. Its blood has poured and continues to run through the streets; sacrifice is all they know. The question before each and every one of us is what do we have to pour forth? More complacency? More apathy? More silent protest and inaction? More disregard? More futility? For too long, many of us in the west, have either been distracted or willfully ignorant of the horrific reality that our beloved brothers and sisters have had to live through. So is it surprising at all that during the most sacred month of the year, when our focus should be on self-improvement and God, that we cannot divert our eyes or our hearts from this massacre because He has FORCED us to look at the gruesome truth and to bear witness to it? We must take a long hard look at ourselves in the mirror and accept our individual and collective culpability in all of this. Not all the blame falls on Israel and corrupt political leaders. Weve been absent, physically and spiritually for far too long and the attendance report is abysmal. May Allah (swt) guide us and forgive us for our heedlessness. And may He bring a swift relief to the innocent wherever they are. Ameen.
