One group kills common people in the name of establishing sharia, another organization kills common people in an operation named after Prophets sword. A leader supports the organization killing common people in another province because he thinks it curbs extremism, but that leader cries when the same state machinery kills people who call him murshad. All of this has one thing in common: use of religion to manipulate common people--the same common people getting killed everywhere in the process by every party involved. What difference does it make? A murder is a murder, even if a guy in a turban commits it or a guy in a uniform commits it. Religion is dragged so that the murderers dont feel the burden of conscience. Convenient, no doubt. But the color of the blood spilled is the same, no matter sharia, the modern azb or anything else spills it. Use of religious symbols and terminologies just glamorizes death. The game of death is the oldest game known to human beings, we just keep reinventing it by introducing in it concepts that would make it look glorious and dignified. It is patriotism sometimes, religion on other times. Gherat is the factor in some places, ethnicity in others. But its all the same. For those who see things through and through, the game becomes absurd after some time. But for the common people, it is always going to retain the glamor. -Uzair Saroya
