One last shot from the weekend , the C47D exquisitely framed by the wing of the B25 ( flown by my wife), and in the background the Douglass grand offspring the C17. The crew of that C17 were all over our Douglas and I was proud to share her with them, the progenitor of the MAC. When you think of the Hump during WWII ,the Berlin Airlift postwar, the evacuation of the wounded from Koto Ri, in Korea, and the last innings in Vietnam you marvel anew over this airframe. And when I think of 27 years ( in my case)and over 8000 hours of freight, ferrying, training, and airshow flying( not bragging humbly) , and how it never gets old, how I , we learn something new, see something new , and beautiful with each and every sortie, surely there is no aircraft out there that exceeds in grace, or importance that of the Douglas Commercial model Three !!! We are blessed to be associated with her, to carry this fire from the past, to the present, and forward to the future. End of rave, please bear with me.
