One of our Kings Army Members wrote a letter to SWD & Border - TopicsExpress

One of our Kings Army Members wrote a letter to SWD & Border Bulldogs : Good day, When the Southern Kings came to life, alot of EP Kings supporters started supporting the SWD and Border teams. We all wanted our franchise partners to do well as we all form part of the same region. So, game after game this season you had our support, except off course when you played the Kings. That is what makes your decision to vote against the expansion of the Currie Cup a bit difficult to understand. I would like to ask the following questions this morning and trust that you will not take offense to it, as no offense is intended. 1. Why did you vote against the expansion? 2. Was there a pre-determined plan by the 5 smaller unions and if so, what were they trying to achieve? 3. If SWD or Border were second on the log and above EP, would you still have voted against the expansion? 4. In the 5 months that the Kings were given to prepare a team for Super Rugby, what would you have done differently given the short time and limited financial resources to sign players and sponsors and also build a team and game plan? We all know the marketing could have been better, but consider that limited resources were available. 5. If you would have liked to see more SWD and Border players involved, how would you have justified that considering that you only won 1 game in the Vodacom Cup 2013 (Border won only 2) and given the 88-0 score conceded by a Kings team including SWD and Border players in the game in George? Also consider that you only ended 5th in last years 1st Division and Border last – without a single win. This season neither SWD or Border could win against a significantly weakened EP Kings team. Personally I would have liked to see more of your players too, so I’m not against the idea. I’m just struggling to justify it. Especially if you consider that the Southern Kings had to perform at all cost. 6. Every year SWD, Border and EP loose players to the bigger unions. How do you plan on retaining the promising players in our region and also attracting top class players to strengthen our squads in certain positions? Remember we have until end of 2015 to build a squad for 2016. Even worse, we only have one season to rebuild a team to take on the Super Rugby promotion relegation matches end of 2014. 7. The relationship between the Southern Kings franchise partners have taken a tremendous blow by you decision to vote against the expansion. How do you plan on fixing that? Looking forward to your reply. Regards Kings Army Member
