One often gets the impression that people are simply playing politics when they contradict themselves in their commentry. However now I realize that these people actually believe in their obvious contradictions. You often hear people saying that the DA must appoint black people in its leadership. When the party does that the same people complain that the DA is appointing black leaders in its leadership. This is not politics. It is a cognitive dysfunction. Not too long ago these people were saying that Lindiwe Mazibuko was ineffective in parliament, the DA caucus messed up the EE ammendment vote under her leadership and that she relied too much on criticising Zuma instead of articulating DA policy. These are same people who now support Lindiwe, defending her as competent, effective and politically mature. Once again this is not pretence. Neither is it selective amnesia. These people believe in their contradictions. I am sure that there are issues in dispute intenally within the DA as you would expect in a domocratic movement. In fact even at branch level where I serve we deal with issues and problems on a daily basis. It is part of politics. Politicians know this. I hope that the objective people will not rely on incompetent pseudo politicians to unpack complicated political matters for them. Would you allow a farmer to operate on your brain? Leading any political structure is a massive task and I truly understand and appreciate the magnitude of political difficulties that both Lindiwe and Helen have to navigate through at the moment. A lot of people look up to both these outstanding ladies to come out and show leadership. I also believe that my partys solid underpinning set on a strong political foundation and political competence will actually emerge stronger and far more motivated to win Joburg and Nelson Mandela Bay in 2016. This is just politics. Those who say that we are being used in the DA obviously base their assertion on their own perculiar positions in their parties where they are simply used as stooges and noise makers to shoot down the voices of reason. Just think of the sheep of Animal Farm and youll see what I am talking about. Lindiwe Mazibuko has served the party well however she is taking a year off and we do have equally (if not more) competent leaders from all ethnic and social backgrounds with the DA in its unequalled diversity. Patricia Kopane, Mmusi Maimane, Wilmot James, Makashule Gana, Patricia De Lille, etc... Unlike in other parties, we are blessed with morally-sound and ethically-grounded leaders.
