Opening week update! Missouri archery opened last week and we enjoyed having the Alabama crew hunt with us! It was a tough week with cold fronts, east winds, rain, and then near 100 degree temps. Corn was being combined which pulled the deer out of the beans and kept Shane, Buck and I busy behind the glasses looking for shooters to put these guys on. We finished the week with 6 opportunities, 2 kills, 1 miss (thanks George) on a dandy buck at 35 yards, and 3 deer over 130 passed as bigger deer were nearby! We also stuck one while hunting out of a ground blind but the arrow deflected off of a cut corn stalk and after looking we determined it was not fatal. Kansas also started off good with a 157 inch 11 point hitting the ground! Last night they passed on 150 and 160 class bucks looking for bigger deer. They are still hunting in Kansas and there have been a couple passed due to low light conditions. Foodplots are growing, acorns are fixing to drop and the days are getting cooler!
