Our new son made his debut this morning and was rushed to his very important tests and meeting with his surgeon. While Anne is recovering from her C-section it was explained to us by the phenomenal doctors and nurses here at U of M that in all likely hood Griffin has a type of Esophageal Atresia that will require him to stay at the NICU unit for some time (several weeks to months). Tomorrow Griffin will undergo a procedure where a G-tube will be surgically placed for feeding (Anne has already started pumping and storing breast milk). During this procedure the surgeon will be able to measure the gap between the incomplete esophagus and the stomach. The space missing between will give us a clearer picture of how long Griffin will need to stay at the hospital and when the surgery to attach can be done. Griffin has a special tube in his mouth to suck out siliva as he is unable to swallow beyond where the esophagus ends. Anne and I would like to thank all of you for your love, prayers, and support.
