PART OF BALAKA STADIUM COLLAPSES DUE TO HEAVY RAINS: As heavy rains continues to cause havoc in the country, reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates part of Balaka Stadium fence has collapse rendering soccer fans in the district hopeless. The stadium collapsed on Sunday afternoon due to heavy rains. Confirming the development, Balaka Stadium Manager Fidelisi Josiah said the damage will heavily affect the District Assembly who relies much on the Stadium when it comes to revenue collection. Josiah said at the moment the authorities in collaboration with the Ministry of works are running up and down to assess the damage and probably establish the amount of money needed to renovate the Stadium. One of the soccer fans that FOM managed to speak to said he was so disappointed with the news and he urged the government to swiftly intervene on the matter. The past two weeks, the country has experienced heavy rains accompanied by hailstorm which has rendered many families homeless.
