POLICE WARNING OF TELEPHONE FRAUDSTERS Fraud – Lockerbie A 64 year old Lockerbie woman has been conned out of over £300 in a PPI scam. The woman was contacted by telephone by a caller who intimated that she was due a PPI refund of over £3000, however she had to pay up front taxes of over £300 before the refund could be released. The lady carried out this transaction via U Cash vouchers through the local post office. When a second request for an up front payment was made it was discovered that this was a scam. Police are investigating the fraud and again warn the public to be on the alert for such cold calling scams.
