PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE Press Release PGA Prepares for Homecoming of Valerie Weigmann who represented Albay and won was Miss World Phils. Hailed as the Miss World Philippines 2014, Valerie Weigmann, who represented the Province of Albay in the recently concluded stint, is coming home to her native province to visit residents now staying at evacuation centers and lift the spirits of those uprooted from their homes due to the violent activities of Mayon volcano. Weigmann, a 24 year old of German, Filipino, and Danish descent, who has gained popularity as a co-host of the famous noontime variety show Eat Bulaga, who also entered the famous reality show Pinoy Big Brother, and has done works as an actress, model and now a beauty queen, proudly represented Albay in the Miss World Philippines 2014 pageant as she has traced her lineage, the Clacio Family, in Daraga, Albay, particularly from the Centro Ilawod area. As tradition, the Provincial Government of Albay is planning a homecoming event for the new pride of Albay which will happen on October 16, 2014 this Thursday. Miss Weigmann, who also won numerous special awards, including Best in Swimsuit, Best in Fashion Runway and Best in Long Gown, as well as being chosen as Miss Solaire, Miss Filia, Miss Jesi Mendez, Miss Reducin, Miss Olay, Miss Bench, Miss Camarines Sur, Miss Hana and Miss Blue Water Day Spa, will arrive at 10:30 am at the Legazpi Airport and will immediately go on a motorcade around Legazpi and Daraga, Albay. After the motorcade, the Miss World Philippines will proceed to the Provincial Capitol where it is expected that she will receive recognition from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Albay for her achievements. A press conference will follow after the conferment of the recognition at the People’s Hall and after which Weigmann will proceed to the Oriental Hotel to rest before heading to the evacuation centers in Daraga and Camalig where she will be distributing gifts to pre-schoolers currently residing in the area. The gift-giving will coincide with the community-building activities that the Provincial Government of Albay will conduct with the displaced residents, and come night time, Ms. Weigmann will be holding court in a session with 20 young aspiring Albay beauty titlists to learn more from her experiences and augment their chances of following the footsteps of Albayano title holders who have received accolades for their achievements. It should be noted that the Philippines, represented by 2013 Miss World Philippines Megan Young, won the Miss World title last year, and many Albayanos expect Miss Valerie Weigmann to do the same.
