Part 109 The story of Rose Ann and her friends Rose Ann leaves in the ambulance and is unconscious. The teacher goes into the office to call her parents. Rose Anns Mom starts to cry and rushes to the hospital. On her way to the hospital, she calls her husband sobbing. Rose Anns dad leaves work and meets her at the hospital. When Rose Ann gets to the hospital, they take her to start running some test. She is still non-responsive but breathing. When Rose Anns Mom and dad arrive they are told to wait in the waiting room and someone will be with them as soon as they can. Rose Anns Mom paces back and forth crying, well her husband sets with his hand over his face. He asked his wife, “How does something like this happen to our precious sweet Rose Ann?” He is just shaking his head. He stands up to hold his wife in his arms. He tells her that everything is going to be okay. The doctor comes out and walks slowly over to Rose Ann parents. He said, “Hi there are you Rose Anns parents?” I want to tell you that we need permission to take your daughter into surgery immediately. The tests are showing that she has a brain bleed, and we must act quickly.” Rose Ann parents started to sob. He looks at both of them and said, “These dangerous forms of bleeding are called epidural and subdural hematomas. Because the brain is trapped inside the skull, slow bleeding can force important parts of the brain against the inside of the skull and through the small hole in the base of the skull called the foramen magnum. These important brain areas, which control breathing and heart rate, stop working when they get squeezed and this is what results in death. With a CAT scan, epidural and subdural hematomas are easily diagnosed. The treatment requires surgery to remove the blood clot. The quicker the surgery, the better the chances for a good outcome.” If you read this very important story tonight, please write a comment or “non-responsive.” To be continued…………………………..
